NAPALM DEATH Joins Forces With PETA2 To 'Save #99'
August 10, 2006Look for ads this month rolling out with NAPALM DEATH supporting PETA2.com's "Save #99" campaign. The anti-vivisection ad, which can be viewed at this location, quotes NAPALM DEATH vocalist/activist Barney Greenway as saying, "Vivisection is one of the ultimate acts of disrespect, and conclusions from it are questionable. Time to consign it to the history books." The full-page ad centers around a primate "#99" who "lived in a cage in a laboratory in Vienna, VA. Every day, workers forced tubes up his nose and down his throat to pump in and test a mysterious experimental substance. It made him sick and weak, and his hair fell out." The ad continues asking readers to "join Barney in speaking out against cruel vivisection experiments on primates. #99 couldn't stop the abuse — but you can." The first chance North American readers will have to see the ad is in this month's issue of Decibel magazine.
As previously reported, NAPALM DEATH have finalized the track listing for their new album, "Smear Campaign", due on September 19 via Century Media Records (one day earlier inernationally). The follow-up to last year's "The Code Is Red…Long Live the Code" was recorded at Foel Studios in Wales, England and features a guest appearance by THE GATHERING frontwoman Anneke van Giersbergen.
